AR for field service
Give field teams relevant visual information at the point of work. Start with one task where guidance or expert support is difficult to access, then test the proposed interaction in realistic conditions.

Map the handover between worker and expert
Document what the worker can see, what the remote expert needs and what happens when the connection fails. A useful workflow may combine annotated video, reference models and approved instructions. Responsibilities for decisions and escalation must remain clear.
Choose devices for the actual environment
Hands-free use can be valuable, but glasses are not automatically suitable for every task. Review visibility, noise, battery life, protective equipment, mounting and network coverage with the operating team. A phone or tablet can be a better first pilot where it meets the need.
Control instructions and integrations
Connect each instruction to an approved procedure and version owner. Asset identifiers, service records and authentication should come from agreed systems. A custom experience is not a replacement for an enterprise remote-assistance platform unless that wider scope is explicitly designed and supported.
Pilot under operational constraints
Test task completion, missed instructions, remote handover quality and recovery from lost connectivity. Define whether audio or video is recorded and who may access it. The responsible organisation must approve device use in hazardous or regulated environments before deployment.
Questions before you brief us.
Do we need smart glasses?
Not necessarily. Compare the task on a phone, tablet and available glasses before selecting hardware.
Can it work with an existing service platform?
Integration depends on available APIs, authentication, licensing and the fields the workflow needs.
Does this replace safety procedures?
No. Approved procedures, supervision and operational safety requirements remain in force.
What is the first step?
Select a representative task and document the existing workflow, failure points, devices and connectivity.
