Motion capture records movement; a usable digital performance also needs planning, direction and a reliable path into the target character. We scope capture and post-production around the scene, rig and final application.
01 / Our approach +
Plan the performance and the handover together
A production-ready brief starts with what the character must communicate. An action library, a dramatic scene and a live demonstration require different preparation, session design and delivery checks.
We review the target rig, expected movements and scene requirements before a session is planned. That helps identify constraints early, including contacts with props, floor interaction and movements that may need additional cleanup. The goal is a delivery your animation team can evaluate against the agreed specification.
02 / Production scope
What we can build with you.
01
Capture planning
+
Prepare a movement list, performance references and technical requirements for the session.
02
Performance processing
+
Scope cleanup and retargeting for the destination rig, including review of contact and movement consistency.
03
Animation handover
+
Deliver agreed takes and formats with naming, versioning and notes that support integration.
Capture a planned set of actions for a game or real-time application.
02
Narrative performance
+
Develop movement and expression around the needs of a scene.
03
Digital presentation
+
Scope performance assets for a character-led installation or demonstration.
04 / Planning your project +
Resolve capture requirements before the session.
A motion capture brief should identify the target character, the required takes and how those takes will be judged. Movements involving props, contact between performers or exaggerated proportions may need additional planning and cleanup. Establish whether the output is raw capture, cleaned motion or animation retargeted to a specific rig. If several vendors are involved, agree who handles naming, take selection and final sign-off. This preparation makes the session easier to direct and gives the receiving animation team a clear basis for checking the result rather than discovering missing requirements after capture.
A useful brief makes the next step clearer.
You do not need a finished specification to start a conversation. Share the intended audience, the outcome you need and any existing material. Include a target date or platform constraint if you have one. We can use those details to discuss the right starting point and the questions a production scope needs to answer.
Start with a conversation.
Send the action or shot list, target character and the performance you need to capture.
Does motion capture remove the need for animation work?+
No. Cleanup, retargeting and artistic adjustment may still be needed. Capture is part of the production pipeline rather than a universal replacement for animation.
Can you retarget onto our existing rig?+
We assess the rig structure and test representative movement before confirming the retargeting scope.
Are facial capture and voice included?+
Only when agreed. Body, facial and audio requirements should be specified separately so session planning and delivery are clear.
What should we prepare before discussing a session?+
A movement or shot list, target rig information, intended use, performer requirements and any props or interactions that matter.
